Hi! My name is Dallin Durfee, and I love doing and teaching physics! I have a B.S. in Physics from BYU and a Ph.D. in Physics from MIT. I've worked at Yale University, BYU, the Air Force Research Lab at Kirtland AFB, and I am currently a Professor of Physics at Utah Valley University. If you want, you can take a look at my CV with the link below.

These include video lectures and example problem videos, 3D printable opto-mechanical designs and other useful 3D printable designs, educational software, and labs I have developed.

My Research

I have done research in laser-cooled atoms, Bose-Einstein condensation, atom interferometry, laser spectroscopy, and atomic clocks. My current research efforts are on a method of lensless imaging using laser interference which we call Interference Pattern Structured Illumination Imaging (IPSII). Many of my publications are available for free online viewing at the page linked to below.

I have many useful resources that I will soon be posting here. This web page is a work in progress...

My Teaching

Torque on a Bicycle Tire

I have developed a wide range of courses, from freshman level math for physicists to advanced experimental methods. I have developed numerous resources for teaching, including two textbooks, numerous instructional videos, many 3D printable designs, animations, and several labs and software packages. They are free to use for educational purposes, and you can find many of them in the Educational Resources section of this page.
